Our Animals
Every breed of animal on our farm is carefully selected to regenerate the soil and careful consideration is given to their temperament and adaptability to the New Hampshire climate. We feed our animals an exclusively organic diet in addition to rotating them through our diverse expansive paddocks for their health and the health of our soil. We feed ourselves and our families what we grow, so you can be rest assured that we're always providing the best quality meat.

No matter what purpose they serve on the farm, all our animals are well loved from the day they arrive at Harmony Mountain.

Egg Birds
We have a number of different birds on our farm. Black Australorps are one of our favorites — laying light brown eggs — and said to be one of the best layers. Rhode Island Reds are well suited for the New Hampshire climate, and they're one of our most popular birds! Barred Rock is another popular laying hen and is gentle natured. Finally, our Americana are winter hardy birds bred to retain a blue egg color.
Chicken
We raise Cornish Cross based on flavor and growth rate. They are fed an organic grain diet from Morrisons and are kept inside our expansive barn in small batches to keep them safe and healthy until we can get them on pastures where they can supplement their diet and regenerate the soil.
Pork
We've raised several breeds of pig depending on what's available at different times of the year. We have Berkshire, Tamworth, Large Black, Mangalista, and Mixed breed pigs. They are all chosen for their gentle nature, adaptability to the climate, growth, mothering capabilities and flavor. We provide them with tree cover, rocks, pasture and plenty of rooting to supplement their diet and regenerate the soil.
Beef
We raise Wagyu and Herford cows on our farm. We have a small herd of Wagyu and Herford. They're all well adapted to the climate and resistant to illnesses. We continuously improve their genetics through breeding and now have some mixed-breed and some 100% Wagyu cows. Wagyu is a highly marbled meat that has been studied for its health benefits, in particular, its Omega-6 and Omega-9 fatty acids.
Dairy
We have Dairy goats and cows on our farm who provide milk, cream and many different cheeses. We raised Fiona (our Guernsey) from the time she was a calf. She was chosen for her gentle and calm nature, and produces an A2 milk which is a more digestible form of milk protein.

Petunia is a Jersey cow who was recently added to the farm. She's a gentle girl who produces lots of butter fat!

We practice milk sharing (calf sharing) so we can keep the calf with her mother and take milk from her in small amounts daily.
Our Dogs
Patches and Sebastian are our trusty Great Pyrenees. They're trained Livestock Guardian Dogs who work diligently to keep our animals safe from predators. Despite our best efforts, we've unfortunately lost a few to bears, coyotes and other predators, but after adding these beautiful dogs to the farm — we've had zero losses! They are loyal and devoted to the farm.

We also have Emma, our husky who's been a member of this family before we started the farm.We trained her as a sled dog, but she's adapted well to farm life and can definitely hold her own against any predator.
Our Horse
Abel is an Appaloosa Cross* who we adopted. He's not a typical part of the sustainable farm model, but we enjoy having him for companionship, grooming and the occasional ride. He loves to be outside with the cows, roaming the pasture. We sometimes even find him running across the field in a full gallop to show off his athletic chops! He loves and cares for children and has a calm temprament.

He might have been a camp horse or possibly had his own family at one time. We've also seen him do some "cutting" with the cows which leads us to believe he may have been a cow horse. It's a mystery, but we're so happy to have him!

*We think Abel was rescued from a kill facility but don't have all the details of his origin story.
Our Cats
Maple is our first cat. She's kind, affectionate and the best mouser a farmer could ask for. She's always showing us her appreciation by leaving us all kinds of small rodents.
Milton is Maple's son and like Maple, is an affectionate mouser!
